Once upon a time the goddess of light had a daughter who would raise up the sun for her in the morning and paint the skies in a beautiful red. Her long white hair would reflect the sunlight giving it an almost golden shimmer. Some even said that her hair would make bursts of sunlight dance even through the night skies.
But an evil rose from the depths of darkness, jealous of the daughter of the sun. A demon attacked her in hatred and drowned her in the red flames of the morning skies, stealing her powers and dying it's hair in a bright red.
As the demon tried to steal even more of the sun's powers, her mother, the goddess of sun and light blackened the sun to shield it from the demon's grasp. And as punishment for the death of her daughter she cast it away from the heavens into the darkness of the void, where it would never see the light of the sun again.
In this void the demon would stay never to be seen again.
At least that's the story they would like to be told...
